The company prides itself on crafting an exceptional, one-of-a-kind active sitting chair designed to reduce back pain, strengthen the core, and introduce movement into the workday.

The vision of CoreChair is to “offer the world’s healthiest, ergonomic, and therapeutic office chair” says Founder and CEO of CoreChair Inc, Patrick Harrison from Aurora, Ontario.

In 2008, CoreChair was founded to design an innovative active sitting chair that would ultimately challenge the traditional doctrine of healthy workplace environments, with attention to detail on everyday needs and value to those who use it. With a degree in Kinesiology specializing in sports medicine, Mr. Harrison designed the CoreChair to optimize sitting posture and encourage movement in all direction up to 14 degrees; enhancing joint mobilization of the hops, pelvis, and spine; increasing blood flow, circulation and calorie expenditure.

The design process spanned almost eight years of intense engineering, field trials, testing, and evidence-based studies with five different North American universities. The CoreChair also underwent studies at the Mayo Clinic and was awarded a NEAT Certification. NEAT stands for Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis. In other words, CoreChair is a solution that will increase energy expenditure, at low intensity and long durations to combat the negative physiological outcomes of sedentariness. The outcomes of these research studies have assisted in product design evolution, as well as validating the efficacy of the design process.

CoreChair now has thousands of happy customers who are reaping the benefits of active sitting including a reduction in back and neck pain, enhanced productivity levels, improved sitting posture, and stronger core and back muscles.

“I have had lower back issues from years of neglect and poor posture. My job requires that I sit for long periods, which can cause chronic lower back pain and difficulty with movement. I was excited to try the CoreChair and after 6 months of use, I am finding that I have eliminated the lower back issues. I can sit with comfort and find that the action of the chair keeps me engaged with my body position and movements,” says ILmar Simanovsk, a CoreChair user from Ontario, Canada.  Dr. Jonas Eyford, a Chiropractor at GSH Medical Clinic, explains “the CoreChair fundamentally changes the nature of sitting from a passive activity to an active one. The effect that this has is principally on the muscles and joints of the body– particularly the low back. When the muscles are active they are coordinated and they are strong, and they stay that way–they become familiar.”

The CoreChair is even recommended by Surgeons and Medical Doctors. Dr. Patrick Gamble, an Orthopedic Surgeon from Southlake Regional Health Centre states that “the CoreChair, supported by excellent scientific research, is a therapeutic aid for [his] post-operative patients.”

The CoreChair is truly a unique, revolutionary office chair designed with a mission to encourage a healthy workplace environment offering individual comfort and health and Employer ROI.

Although confident that CoreChair will incorporate movement and physical activity into the workplace, Mr. Harrison acknowledges that the CoreChair is only one part of the solution towards the prevention of sedentariness. His recommendations expand beyond to include physical activity after work hours, a healthy diet, as well as ensuring to get a proper sleep every night.
